The Savannahlander is an icon of North Queensland’s rail offering, with its distinctive and iconic 1960s silver-bullet railmotors. When you are visiting Forsayth, we highly recommend booking a half-day Forsayth to Einasleigh tour so you can experience local rail history and enjoy scenic views of our local area.
The half day Savannahlander trip from Forsayth to Einasleigh operates every Thursday, between April and October. It includes a bus ride, train ride and time at Einasleigh. The air conditioned coach departs the Goldfields Hotel at 12.15pm – grab some lunch before you leave (at own cost) – and there’s time to check out the Copperfield Gorge in Einasleigh before boarding the Savannahlander Train for a 2.30pm departure. Ride the rail back over the scenic Newcastle Ranges to Wirra Wirra Siding, where you’ll be met by coach, for the short transfer back to Forsayth, which arrives at approximately 5pm.
