Forsayth is located in the central base of Cape York and is a part of the Savannah Way. Surrounded by mountainous terrain, consisting of granite and mineralised sedimentary rocks, this is pioneering country. Forsayth has a small permanent population of around 75 residents. At its heart are the Goldfields Hotel and Finnigan’s Rest, both of which are open throughout the year. The Goldfields Hotel is a meeting place for locals and visitors alike. It’s open 7 days a week and has an onsite bar, café and restaurant, as well as convenience store, post office, fuel supplies and world class agate display.
Finnigan’s Rest provides modern, comfortable Forsayth accommodation. It’s adjacent to the Goldfields Hotel and all rooms are air-conditioned for your comfort. There’s a range of bedding configurations and all rooms have their own ensuite. To get here you can self-drive, Forsayth is 40km south of Georgetown and 70km west of Einasleigh or book a ticket on the famous Savannahlander train.
